The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the final list of candidates nominated by political parties to contest the 2027 senatorial elections across Nigeria’s 109 senatorial districts. Notably, several districts have no candidate from the NDC, including Bauchi South, Bauchi Central, and Bauchi North. In Edo Central, the PDP also did not field a candidate. However, in Osun State, additional parties like Accord have entered the race, with Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa contesting in Osun Central and Fadipe Ibukun Isola in Osun East. The list reflects a competitive political landscape, with parties vying for influence in both urban and rural constituencies.
In Lagos, APC’s Sanni Eshilokun Wasiu Olatunji is challenging ADC’s Abayomi Idowu Omotayo, NDC’s Johnson Lawrence Adeniyi Oladipupo, and PDP’s Dakova-Vaughan Kolawole David in Lagos Central. Meanwhile, in Kano Central, Shekarau Ibrahim (APC) faces Samaila Abdullahi Mukhtar (ADC), Yusuf Nasiru Gawuna (NDC), and Sankara Nafiu Danladi (PDP). The inclusion of diverse names from various ethnic and regional backgrounds underscores Nigeria’s pluralistic political environment.
