The Niger State Police Command has arrested nine suspects in connection with the stabbing death of 35-year-old Nafiu Mohammed in the Maitumbi area of Minna on August 25, 2026. The incident, which occurred in Sabon-Titi, Maitumbi, triggered a swift response from law enforcement, leading to multiple arrests and ongoing investigations into alleged criminal conspiracy and thuggery. Police confirmed that the victim was attacked and fatally stabbed, and despite being rushed to a nearby medical facility, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that operatives from the Maitumbi Division responded immediately to the scene. He noted that tactical teams were deployed following the incident to ensure public safety and to apprehend those involved. Six suspects—Emmanuel Moses (25), Lukman Mohammed (25), Abdullahi Mohammed (19), Sani Ibrahim (18), Abdullahi Yusuf (22), also known as Challo, and Adamu Isyaku (20)—were arrested in connection with the murder. Among them, Sani Ibrahim was found in possession of a long cutlass, which is believed to have been used in the attack.
According to police reports, the suspects implicated Muhammad Sani as the primary perpetrator responsible for the death of Nafiu Mohammed. Authorities are currently intensifying efforts to locate and arrest Muhammad Sani, who remains at large. The six detained individuals are being held for further investigation under charges related to criminal conspiracy and acts of thuggery. Their statements and evidence collected are being reviewed by investigative officers.
In a separate operation conducted on the same day, police raided suspected blackspots along the Maitumbi-Gwada Road. During the raid, three additional suspects—Nura Murtala (19), Idris Aliyu (19), and Haruna Ibrahim (21), all residents of Saiko—were apprehended. Officers recovered suspected cannabis, a cutlass, four scissors, and shisha pipes with pots from the group. These items suggest possible involvement in drug-related activities and violent crimes.
The Niger State Police Command emphasized that all suspects will be charged to court after thorough investigations are completed. Law enforcement officials are urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent further violence. This crackdown reflects the command’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Minna and surrounding areas. As investigations continue, authorities remain focused on bringing all perpetrators to justice and ensuring public safety across the state.
