The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 17 suspects in a series of coordinated operations across multiple local government areas, targeting criminal activities including theft, shop breaking, cattle rustling, vandalism, and armed robbery. The arrests, made following credible intelligence and swift police response, took place in Malam Madori, Gwaram, Garki, Kiyawa, Taura, Birniwa, Dutse, Ringim, Miga, Kazaure, and Roni. Police emphasized that the operations were part of an ongoing effort to restore security and curb rising crime rates in the state.
Recovered items include five motorcycles, five cows, two goats, one sheep, nine Android smartphones, and one keypad phone. Additional recovered property consists of 44 batteries, four SIM cards, a Lenovo laptop, a plasma television, a solar battery, a ceiling fan, cutting pliers, a ring spanner, two pairs of shoes, and parts of vandalised school desks. These items are being processed for identification and return to rightful owners through proper legal channels.
Three suspects were specifically apprehended in connection with an armed robbery involving a Boxer motorcycle valued at N1.2 million. Although the motorcycle remains unrecovered, investigations are actively underway to trace its whereabouts. The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for discreet and thorough investigation.
The suspects—Usman Sale, Abubakar Aminu, Musa Sale, Abubakar Bashir, Yau Yahaya, Shaibu Muhammed, Anas Uba, Gali Ibrahim, Shafiu Ilyasu, Haruna Alhaji, Musa Haruna, Basiru Datti, Abdullahi Bello, Usman Adamu, Adamu Sani, Umar Wada, and Salisu Nasiru—have all been arraigned before a court to face charges related to their alleged crimes. Authorities are committed to ensuring justice is served without delay.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to intelligence-led policing, surveillance, and joint operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks. He warned criminals and their accomplices to cease illegal activities, stressing that law enforcement will not hesitate to bring offenders to justice. The police continue to engage communities and stakeholders in efforts to maintain peace and order across Jigawa State.
