The 2027 general election in Nigeria will not be won by political noise, slogans, or last-minute mobilisation, but through sustained grassroots engagement, unity, and effective organisation, according to Farooq Adenugba, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Housing, OPIC, and Special Projects. Speaking on Friday in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area, Adenugba inaugurated his political team ahead of the 2027 elections while also launching a youth mentorship programme aimed at empowering young Nigerians.
The event was held at the Imososi Primary School Hall in Ago-Iwoye and was hosted by Segun Kaka, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ijebu North State Constituency II. The mentorship session, themed “Failing Forward,” was organised by the Prince Segun Kaka Foundation (PSK) in collaboration with the Academic Excellence Initiative (AEI), Ijebu Zone. It brought together secondary school students for counselling and guidance on personal development and leadership.
Adenugba delivered a powerful message to the students, urging them not to let failure or setbacks define their lives. He emphasized that resilience, discipline, education, and courage are essential for success. “A setback should never become a full stop in your life,” he said. “Failure can become a teacher if you are determined to learn from it and move forward.” He encouraged the youth to take their education seriously, discover their talents, acquire useful skills, and stay focused despite challenges.
He highlighted the importance of creating deliberate platforms where young people can interact with experienced leaders, gain knowledge, and build confidence needed to thrive in today’s competitive world. Adenugba also spoke on leadership, career development, perseverance, character, and purposeful living, stressing that these values are critical for national progress.
In addition to mentoring the youth, Adenugba announced the formation of his political structure, which is designed to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s grassroots machinery. He clarified that the new team is not meant to operate independently of the party but to complement its existing framework through organised mobilisation, strategic communication, and continuous community engagement.
“2027 will not be won by noise or slogans alone,” Adenugba reiterated. “It will be won through organisation, constant engagement, unity, and the ability to reach the people at the grassroots.” He urged members to avoid unnecessary divisions and personal interests, calling for collective action towards the party’s broader political goals.
As Nigeria prepares for the next general election, Adenugba’s emphasis on structured, inclusive, and youth-focused political engagement signals a shift toward more sustainable and participatory democracy.
