Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has officially inaugurated over 600 members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Campaign Council in Kebbi State, marking a significant step in the party’s preparations for upcoming elections. The event, held in Kebbi, brought together key party stakeholders to formalize campaign structures aimed at strengthening ADC’s presence across the state. Malami emphasized unity, discipline, and strategic coordination as essential elements for electoral success, urging members to work collectively toward common goals.
In his address, Malami stressed that the newly inaugurated Campaign Council is not focused on any single candidate or office but represents the entire ADC campaign structure. He highlighted that the council will coordinate efforts from the governorship race down to the State House of Assembly, Senate, and House of Representatives contests. “This Campaign Council represents our collective ADC campaign. It is not about one candidate or one elective position. From the governorship to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, we must work as one political family,” he said.
Malami called on party leaders and supporters to shun tribalism, sectionalism, and internal rivalries, warning that such divisions could undermine the party’s chances in the polls. He advocated for reconciliation and open dialogue to resolve any disagreements within the party framework. He also urged members to see their appointments as responsibilities rather than rewards, emphasizing service and collective effort over personal gain.
The former minister charged the campaign council with mobilizing supporters at the grassroots level, ensuring the party’s message reaches every local government, ward, and community in Kebbi State. He emphasized the importance of conducting a peaceful, lawful, and issue-based campaign, discouraging hate speech, ethnic provocation, and personal attacks against opponents.
