He emphasized that the decision to form the new executive stemmed from concerns over the vacuum left by the national IPAC’s failure to appoint leaders. “This vacuum is causing concern among stakeholders, particularly with the gubernatorial election approaching,” Odeyemi said. He questioned who would serve as the official voice of political parties during crucial pre-election consultations if no functioning IPAC existed. He further stated that the participating parties did not want their council to be controlled by individuals aligned with a single political party.
Odeyemi pledged to uphold the trust placed in him and his team, vowing to act as a bridge between political parties and the electorate. He promised to safeguard the interests of member parties and promote democratic engagement. The emergence of this new executive follows recent disputes within IPAC, including resistance to the appointment of a caretaker committee led by Odesola Oluseye Titus of the All Peoples Party (APP).
