Suspected bandits launched a violent attack on the residence of Dr. Aminu Yusuf, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara State, killing his security guard and abducting several residents during coordinated raids across the town in the early hours of Tuesday. He reported that armed gunmen stormed the rector’s residence, where they fatally shot Isah Yankaba, the security guard. Dr. Yusuf, along with his wife and daughter, managed to escape by climbing over the perimeter fence of the compound. The rector sustained a leg injury during the frantic escape, according to the report.
The attackers did not stop at the rector’s home. They moved on to Hayin Baguso, where they abducted the wife and daughter of a resident identified as Ibrahim. The assault demonstrated the brazen nature of the bandits, who showed no hesitation in targeting civilians and public figures alike. In another attempt, the gunmen tried to invade the residence of businessman Alhaji Salisu Azaria, but were forced to retreat after security personnel responded swiftly.
The armed group then proceeded to the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda, where they abducted Dr. Namadina Hamza, a university lecturer.
