Ondo State Police Command has killed two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle in Ilu Abo, along the Akure-Owo highway in Akure North Local Government Area, following a daring daylight invasion of a block industry on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred when armed men, estimated to be seven in number, stormed the Olaiya Block Industry, located beside Ilu Abo High School, prompting a swift response from the Federal Highway Patrol Unit. Police confirmed the confrontation after receiving a distress call reporting the presence of armed individuals in the area.

The patrol team engaged the suspects in a violent gun duel, which resulted in the neutralization of two of the alleged kidnappers. The remaining members of the gang fled into the surrounding bush, sustaining gunshot wounds as they escaped. According to Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, the operation was carried out promptly to prevent further harm to residents and workers in the industrial area. The swift police response was credited with containing the situation before it escalated.

During the encounter, law enforcement recovered several items linked to the criminal syndicate, including one locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, four mobile phones, multiple face masks, and two ATM cards. These items are believed to belong either to the suspects or their victims, providing crucial evidence for ongoing investigations. The recovery of such items highlights the preparedness and professionalism of the police force in handling high-risk operations.

The incident underscores the persistent threat of kidnapping and armed robbery in parts of Ondo State, particularly along major highways that serve as transit routes for criminals. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining security and protecting lives and property across the state. The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

This operation reflects the ongoing efforts by the Ondo State Police Command to combat crime and restore public confidence in security.
