‘We Killed Her to Teach Her a Lesson’

We Killed Her to Teach Her a Lesson

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni paraded the suspects at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, June 24, 2026. He revealed that Sodeinde had repeatedly contacted Oyesiku after being dismissed, demanding money. During interrogation, Sodeinde confessed to killing her to “teach her a lesson” over unresolved grievances from his time as her employee. The suspects allegedly overpowered Adetayo to gain entry, attacked Oyesiku, and then killed the security guard.

Items recovered during searches include a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen—all considered key evidence. While the suspects have made incriminating statements, the police emphasized they are entitled to due process. The investigation remains ongoing to consolidate evidence for prosecution. Wale Olarewaju, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, commended the police for swiftly unraveling the case. The arrest marks a significant step in delivering justice for Aunty Kitan and her security guard, and the public remains hopeful for a thorough and fair legal process.
