The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects in separate operations linked to alleged culpable homicide and armed robbery in Bauchi and Ningi Local Government Areas, marking a significant step in the state’s ongoing efforts to combat violent crime. The arrests, made on June 13 and 14, 2026, followed swift investigations into two distinct incidents that left residents shaken. Three suspects were apprehended over the killing of a resident in Miri Village, while two others were arrested for attacking a commercial motorcyclist in Ningi Town. Both cases have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further probe and prosecution.
In the homicide case, the suspects identified as Rabiyu Sanda, 16, Muhammad Abubakar, 21, and Suleiman Nura, 21, are all residents of Miri Village in Bauchi LGA. Police operatives from the ‘B’ Division, GRA, arrested them on June 13, 2026, following an investigation into an incident that occurred two days earlier. Preliminary findings indicate the suspects conspired to commit the act after a misunderstanding with the deceased. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and provided valuable information that aided the investigation.
The case has now been transferred to SCID for deeper inquiry and eventual court proceedings. In a separate incident, detectives from the Ningi Division arrested two suspects linked to an armed robbery attack on a 22-year-old commercial motorcyclist. The victim’s father reported the incident to police on June 14, stating his son was attacked on the night of June 13 in Ningi Town. The suspects, identified as Adamu Abdullahi from Zazika Village in Ningi LGA and Aminu Shuaibu from Dutsen Danga Village in Birnin Kudu LGA, Jigawa State, allegedly used a hammer to injure the victim’s face before stealing his motorcycle.
However, police acted swiftly, recovering the stolen motorcycle and apprehending the suspects. The case has also been handed over to SCID for further investigation and legal action. Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers for their diligence and directed investigators to handle both cases with utmost care. He emphasized the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Bauchi State. CP Aliyu also urged residents to avoid violent confrontations, stay vigilant, and report suspicious activities to security agencies without delay. These arrests underscore the police’s proactive stance against crime and signal a continued push for public safety in the region.
