Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Property and Weapons

The Taraba State Police Command has arrested several suspects linked to armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust, while recovering stolen property in three separate operations across the state. The arrests followed coordinated investigations by police units, resulting in the recovery of vehicles, electronic devices, and cash. The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, who detailed the cases and the suspects apprehended.

In the first case, Alhaji Hamishu Abubakar Sambo reported on November 16, 2025, that armed men invaded his residence in the early hours of the same day. The attackers, armed with cutlasses and sticks, stole a Honda Accord vehicle, mobile phones, a television set, cash, and other personal belongings. Following a thorough investigation by the State Intelligence Department (SID), four suspects—Aminu Abubakar Abi, 40, Aliyu Salmanu, 29, Aliyu Abubakar, 33, and Daniel Boniface, 22—were apprehended. Police recovered two cutlasses, two torch lights, a 42-inch Samsung television, and a Redmi 13 Pro smartphone from the suspects.

In a second incident involving criminal breach of trust, tricycle owner Abubakar Habeeb reported that his vehicle was unlawfully transferred to a third party after he entrusted it to Shamsudden Muhammad for personal use. Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) tracked the suspects to Hulleri Village in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State. There, they arrested three individuals—Ishaq Umar, 23, Ibrahim Saidu, and Adamu Usman—and recovered the stolen tricycle.

The third case involved an attack on April 26, 2026, along the Takum–Wukari road, where two victims, Tanko Danladi, 55, and Nmember Danladi, 45, were robbed. Suspects Jibrin Idrisu, 19, and Dahiru Ya’u Dopta, 19, allegedly blocked the road using a locally fabricated gun, a cutlass, and sticks, stealing a motorcycle, cash, and a mobile phone. Both suspects have been arrested, and the motorcycle has been recovered. Investigations into all three cases are ongoing, and the police confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion.

Commissioner of Police Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Taraba State. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. These arrests highlight the police’s ongoing efforts to combat crime and restore public confidence in security. The successful recovery of stolen items and apprehension of suspects signal a strong response to criminal activities in the region, with more operations expected in the coming weeks.
