APC Denies Consensus Candidate Claim in Benue State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State has officially denied reports claiming that Reverend Father David Terzugwe Golozo has been selected as the party’s consensus candidate for the Gboko West (Gbemacha) State Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a formal statement issued by the Gboko LGA chairman, Hon. Terfa Iorgilim, the party dismissed the circulating claims as false, misleading, and unauthorised. The statement emphasized that no such decision has been made at any level within the party’s structure, including the ward committees, key stakeholders, or the State Working Committee.

The APC leadership described the publication as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and disrupt internal party processes. They stressed that the claim is not only inaccurate but also constitutes political mischief that could fuel unnecessary tension among party members and the broader community. The party warned that those responsible for spreading the false information must immediately retract the statement, and any member found culpable may face disciplinary action in accordance with party rules.

The statement further clarified that the APC in Gboko LGA has not adopted or endorsed any individual as a consensus candidate for the Gboko West (Gbemacha) constituency. This position was reiterated to prevent confusion and ensure that members and supporters rely only on official communications from authorized party channels. The party remains committed to conducting its candidate selection process in a transparent, fair, and constitutionally compliant manner.

As the 2027 general elections approach, the APC is focused on maintaining internal unity and ensuring that all party activities follow proper procedures. The denial of the alleged consensus candidate underscores the party’s determination to prevent unauthorized announcements that could undermine its credibility. The APC leadership urged all members to remain vigilant and report any misinformation that may circulate in the lead-up to the elections.

The party’s clear stance on the matter serves as a reminder of the importance of accurate information in Nigeria’s political landscape. With elections on the horizon, political parties are expected to uphold transparency and accountability in their operations. The APC’s position on the Gboko West candidate issue highlights its efforts to maintain order and prevent manipulation within its ranks. This development will likely influence how party members and stakeholders perceive future announcements from the APC in Benue State.
