Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced a free concert set to take place in Osogbo on Friday, April 24, as part of his efforts to mobilise voter participation ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The event, dubbed the “Get Out to Vote Concert,” will feature his son, Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, along with a lineup of prominent Nigerian musicians including Peruzzi, CDQ, Fido, Shina Peters, May D, Sinarambo, Peller, and Kolu Wahala. The concert will be held at the Technical Field in Osogbo and will offer free entry to all residents of the state.
Governor Adeleke made the announcement via his X handle on Wednesday, expressing his excitement about bringing together music lovers across Osun. He emphasized that the concert is meant for everyone, regardless of political affiliation, stating, “This Get Out to Vote Concert is for everyone in Osun State — Accord, ADC, APC, LP, PDP — no political divide, just pure Osun energy!” The event aims to foster unity and encourage civic engagement through music and community spirit.
The announcement comes shortly after the governor appointed his nephew, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, as Head of Youth Mobilisation for his re-election campaign. This strategic move highlights the governor’s focus on engaging the youth, who are seen as a crucial demographic in upcoming elections. By leveraging the influence of popular music figures, Adeleke seeks to create a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere that resonates with a broad cross-section of the population.
In his post, the governor encouraged residents to “Come out, groove, and let your voice count!” He described the concert as inclusive and non-partisan, reinforcing his message that the event is not about political allegiance but about celebrating Osun’s culture and unity. The lineup of performers, which includes both established and emerging artists from within and outside the state, reflects a deliberate effort to appeal to diverse musical tastes and age groups.
The concert is expected to draw large crowds, especially given the star power of B-Red and Davido, whose influence extends beyond Osun to the national music scene. Their involvement adds significant visibility to the campaign, while also promoting civic responsibility through entertainment. The Technical Field, a well-known venue in Osogbo, has been chosen to accommodate the anticipated turnout and ensure accessibility for all.
As the 2026 governorship election approaches, this concert marks a unique blend of music, youth engagement, and voter mobilisation. It underscores Governor Adeleke’s strategy to use cultural events as tools for political outreach, while maintaining an image of inclusivity and community focus. The event is poised to become a landmark moment in Osun’s political and cultural calendar, setting the tone for a vibrant and participatory electoral season.
