2027: ADC Pledges to Unseat APC in Borno State Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally declared its ambition to take over Borno State in the 2027 general elections, marking a significant political move in the Northeast region. The party made this announcement during the inauguration of its state executive members in Maiduguri on Sunday, signaling its readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship seat. ADC Chairman Kolo Bukar emphasized that the party’s decision is rooted in the state’s ongoing struggles with insecurity, poor governance, and underdevelopment. He stated that the ADC is not only aware of the people’s needs but is also committed to delivering change across all 27 local government areas of Borno.

Bukar highlighted that the current administration has failed to address critical issues such as rising insecurity and economic hardship, which have worsened in recent years. He pointed to the resurgence of attacks in parts of the North-East as evidence of governance lapses and vowed that the ADC would bring a fresh approach if elected. “We are going to change the political tide in 2027. Our party knows the people and we know how to unseat the ruling party in Borno State,” Bukar declared with confidence. The ADC is currently developing comprehensive policies focused on tackling insecurity, reducing poverty, and creating employment opportunities for youth and women.

Another party leader, Kashim Imam Ibrahim, echoed Bukar’s sentiments, stressing that the ADC’s primary goal is to improve the living conditions of Borno’s residents. He emphasized the need for responsive and accountable leadership, promising that the party will prioritize grassroots development and inclusive governance. Despite acknowledging internal challenges within the party, the ADC remains optimistic about its chances in 2027. Party members believe that with unity and strategic planning, they can overcome existing obstacles and emerge as a strong political force in the state.

The ADC’s declaration comes at a time when Borno State continues to grapple with security threats and economic instability, making the 2027 elections a critical moment for political change. The party’s campaign is expected to focus on youth empowerment, agricultural development, and infrastructure improvement. As the electoral landscape in Borno evolves, the ADC’s entry into the governorship race adds a new dynamic to the political contest. With preparations already underway, the ADC is positioning itself as a credible alternative to the APC, aiming to capture the votes of disillusioned citizens seeking transformation. The 2027 elections may well mark a turning point in Borno’s political history, with the ADC poised to play a pivotal role.
